Parkside Residences in Houston, Texas, developed by Trammell Crow Company, features a 14-level parking structure designed with one-way traffic flow and double helix ramps. While structurally efficient, the vertically stacked design created a circulation environment where drivers required clear, instant communication at every decision point. Without real-time visibility into space availability, unnecessary circulation across 14 levels could quickly impact flow and the resident experience.
With 414 parking spaces distributed across 14 levels, Parkside Residences required a fully integrated garage parking guidance system capable of delivering space-by-space occupancy data with precision and reliability.
To align parking technology with operational needs, Parking Guidance Systems deployed a coordinated parking garage technology platform anchored by Upsolut Multi-Space Camera Sensors. Mounted along the aisles, each sensor monitors up to six (6) parking spaces simultaneously, delivering real-time occupancy data with high-accuracy detection and intuitive LED indicators. This approach transforms occupancy data into clear visual wayfinding that guides drivers confidently and reduces decision fatigue.
The system at Parkside includes:
- Upsolut Multi-Space Camera Sensors with integrated LED indicators for real-time parking guidance
- Automatic license plate recognition (LPR) functionality supporting secure, identity-based access management
- Overhead parking garage signage positioned at key decision points to display live availability
Rather than operating as independent components, the sensors, digital parking signs, and software function as a unified digital wayfinding ecosystem.
Real-time occupancy monitoring feeds directly into overhead dynamic signs, ensuring availability counts update instantly. LED indicators provide clear, color-coded communication at the space level, while LPR enables enforcement automation, vehicle tracking, and streamlined access control without manual intervention.
The outcome is a parking environment that reduces circulation friction and improves predictability across all 14 levels. Drivers receive instant visual confirmation of space availability. Directional signage reinforces every decision point. Integrated license plate recognition strengthens enforcement while supporting a frictionless residential experience.
Parkside Residences represents PGS’s first residential-only installation, demonstrating how intelligent parking garage solutions extend beyond airport and mixed-use environments. As residential developments grow in vertical scale and structural complexity. Integrated parking garage systems, combining sensors, parking garage signage, and advanced parking software become essential infrastructure for maintaining efficiency, security, and long-term asset performance.
