Christmas came early, at the Texana Center in Bellville, Texas, for roughly 20 adults of all ages suffering from developmental deficiencies. For the last several years, Chandrea Frantz, President of Parking Guidance Systems, LLC, and her family have been hosting a Christmas lunch and bringing gifts to a growing list of excited people at the center. What started out as a visit to see a friend, has now become one of the center’s most anticipated events of the year. “My husband has known John Glenn, a Texana Center resident, for a long time. Over the years they became very close and the holidays were the perfect time to check on him and make sure he was doing ok,” said Ms.Frantz.
Initially, the Frantz family’s annual holiday visit used to be just for John. “We wanted to let John know how loved he is,” said Derek. “We also brought him a Christmas gift and he was absolutely overcome with joy.” When the Frantz’s visited the second year, they included John’s roommates. By the third year, the Frantz’s asked the Center’s Director if they could include everyone. And the rest, as they say, is history.
Leading up to the annual lunch, Texana Center’s Director worked with the Frantz’s to make sure each of their client’s received a special gift. “We were given a wish list and then we went out and bought gifts for each person,” added Chandrea Frantz. “When they opened their gifts, the looks on their faces were absolutely priceless. They were so happy, thankful and grateful.” The Frantz’s also brought in pizza, ice cream, and cake for all to enjoy.
